| Blundstone's main manufacturing plant and head office are
located in Hobart, Tasmania, where the company was founded in 1870. A
second leather footwear factory is located in Auckland, New Zealand, whilst
waterproof gumboots are manufactured in Laverton, Victoria.
Blundstone's leather tannery is situated in Hobart, operating on the same
site since 1853
Blundstone's factories utilise the latest manufacturing technologies and
strong emphasis is placed on technical innovation. |

The patented Shock Protection System (SPS) is a standard
feature in all our dual density Polyurethane (PU), Polyurethane/Nitrile
rubber and Thermo Urethane Polyurethane (TPU) soled safety footwear. The
combination of SPS with Blundstone's unique dual density soling, has
revolutionised comfort in safety footwear. SPS directly reduces workplace
fatigue and orthopaedic problems in the lower back, legs and feet.
Dynamic tests indicate an average reduction in shock transmitted to the legs
of 33% at a brisk walking pace. Technical data sheets are available giving
results from physical testing conducted by CSIRO Division of Chemicals &
Polymers, computer (finite element) analysis conducted by Integra Tooling
Systems Pty Ltd, static and dynamic testing by La Trobe University School of
Human Biosciences and the National Centre for Prosthetic and Orthitics. |

Blundstone's original Shock Protection System
has now been further enhanced with the use of PORON®, the world's most
advanced microcellular shock absorbing material. SPS x-tra features an
additional PORON® strike pad to add another level of shock protection where
it is most needed - in the heel strike zone. SPS x-tra will be progressively
introduced into the styles that have the SPS x-tra icon depicted.

SPS x-tra
Features an additional Poron® pad to add another level of shock
protection where it is needed most, in the heel strike zone.
- An ingenious insole membrane seals the SPS x-tra Poron® strike pad zone
against ingress of moisture and bacteria
- Engineered construction design produces a raised 'dome' effect, increasing
'first impact' shock absorption and preventing the Proron® strike pad
compressing below the insole board
